Woodward: Bush thanks Saudi prince for election-year oil price maneuvering

I received an email that highlighted an item in Bob Woodward’s new book State of Denial that has not received much attention, but perhaps should.  I don’t know the election year in question, and since I don’t yet have a copy of Woodward’s book, I can’t verify the quote as accurate.

Nevertheless, on page 287, the following appears:

[Bush] then thanked [Prince] Bandar for what the Saudis were doing on oil—essentially flooding the market and trying to keep the price as low as possible.  He expressed appreciation for the policy and the impact it could have during the election year.
