Excellent Washington Post article on the seriously underappreciated Pat DiNizio and the Smithereens, who've just released a album covering 'Meet the Beatles,' aptly titled 'Meet the Smithereens.'Plenty of good stuff in the article, including DiNizio's Senate run, video projects, and minor league tryout, as well as his story on hearing the Beatles for the first time. (I was four myself when I first heard "Let It Be" in a Dover, Delaware restaurant called The Blue Dolphin.)
A fantastic read, and I'm not just sayin' that 'cause DiNizio is a fellow Jersey native. They're one of the greatest American bands of the last 25 years, and they never really got their due.
