George Carlin and the Bogus Paradox

There are many people I've admired and been inspired by in my life, like Carl Sagan, Hunter Thompson, John Lennon and so on.  Richard Pryor and George Carlin are my two biggest heroes of all.  Pryor is no longer with us, but today, Carlin turns 70.


Looking for recent pieces on Carlin, I saw this column by a guy named Leo Kelley with the Ada Evening News who says he wrote George and got a moving response about the desperate straits America finds itself in these days.  "I'm going to share his letter," says Kelley.  "Take it for what it's worth."

Well, it ain't worth shit, Leo.  Either you lied or you were duped.  Carlin didn't write that, and he talks about it himself at his own website:

The main problem I have with it is that as true as some of the expressed sentiments may be, who really gives a shit? Certainly not me. I figured out years ago that the human species is totally fucked and has been for a long time.

Bless you George, you cranky old bastard, and thanks for all the thought-provoking laughs over the years.
