Over 70 percent of CEOs fear Obama presidency will be disastrous

Who better to follow the first "CEO president" than a guy whom most corporate bigs want to be the next prez?

Chief Executive magazine conducted a poll of 751 CEOs that revealed they prefer Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) over Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) by a four-to-one margin.

Not only are the biz bosses typically ga-ga over the Republican nominee, nearly 75 percent of them fear that an Obama administration "would be disastrous for the country," according to a press release accompanying the poll.

Some surveyed chief execs even said that Obama's programs "would bankrupt the country within three years, if implemented."

Whatever. Such reactionary corporate fearmongering is to be expected as the non-stop bacchanalia of orgiastic greed that big business has enjoyed under an indifferent dunce in the Oval Office may finally come to a close. Let the chips, and the fatcats, fall.

This from the people who've already driven the country off the cliff? Does anyone care one iota what these fat cats think?

This just shows how stupid and self-centered CEOs are. If McCain gets in, there will be more war. More war eventually means someone's going to nuke us. When that happens, money don't matter. My friends, we are literally on the precipice of the destruction of the human race. I'm not willing to cede it to a small group of idiots that get pedicures. Fuck them.

If the CEO's are against him that ought to lock it up for Obama. Wonder if any of them have spoken with Warren Buffet, an Obama supporter with more credibility and competence than most of the rest of them put together.

Earth to CEO's- In case you haven't noticed, the country's already bankrupt.

they're not concerned about the country in general, they're concerned that things like "oversight" and "accountability" may be on the way... oh, shudder!

Anonymous said...

They fear him because they know the "party" will be over! His administration would hit them where it hurts the most....in their wallets!

what the heck are they talking about "Obama would bankrupt the country in 3 years?" They've already done that the greedy incompetent bastards.

Dumb asses. The data shows that Democratic administrations are better for business than Republican. Google it. or try this link -

http://currencythoughts.com/2008/08/19/how-the-us-economy-performed-under-democrat-and-republican-presidents/

If that doesn't persuade, the WSJ's Don Luskin even admits it's true.

"Since 1948, the Standard & Poor’s 500 total return (capital gains plus dividends) has averaged 15.6% when a Democrat was in the White House and only 11.1% when a Republican was in the White House. You get a similar result if you look at growth in real gross domestic product. Under Democratic presidents, the average since 1948 has been 4.2%. Under Republican presidents it has been only 2.8%."

Stupid Republicans are starting to believe their own hysteria.

So when they say country are they talking about themselves. Because the last the I checked. The country is already broke.

Here's the deal Mr or Mizzzz CEO. If you want to whine and complain about this, too bad. I've always said if you can't afford to be in business, then get the hell out of it. I will never forget learning how one lanky tall airline CEO, of a major bankrupt airline once got all his previous years of work experience from another company transferred to a new company, so this rich bastard could then get the conmpany retirement account. What a bunch of crap. So this bastard gets a full retirement after working only 5 years with the airline. What a rotten fucker. And this is on top of his golden parachute. I hope Obama limits all their pay and gives is middle class the riches these useless bastards received.

I think that survey is nonsense. Any repsonsible CEO has to appreciate the fact Obama is much better equipped to handle this economic crisis then his opponent.
It must have been taken week and weeks ago! When I look at the people advising Obama, and I seem the economic and financial support he has from people like Warren Buffet, Robert Rubin, and Paul Volker, Robert Reich, leaders in the international world community, and others, I am convinced that not only is Obama the best person for the economy, and our current crisis, but I think people like Paulson have been won over by his conduct and will support him. McCain is Senile...among other things.

Ummm, DUHHH! Over the last two decades of the GOP being in control of either the Congress, White House, or both (and arguably the Supreme Court), they've been stuffing themselves at the feeding trough of government subsidies. Meanwhile, getting huge bonuses for getting fired or going bankrupt!

If WE get fired and go belly up, corporate banks will take everything down to our used underwear and throw our butts out onto the street.

Scumbags. Who CARES what they think. They've been in the tank for REthuglicans for ages. They've put us all in the ditch. Do yourself a favor and vote for your intests, not theirs. Vote against what THEY want.

I am sure they are worried. Profits might shrink.

In a world of Justice they should be worried about being sent to prison with hard labor...
Now that would be sweet... A chain gang of CEO's!

People need to stop listening to the "issues" and concentrate on the men themselves. How can I say that? Simple - has any president, ever, lived up to their campaign promises? Nope.

So, look at the men and see which one you trust. Pretty simple.

John McCain was legacied into the US Naval Acadamy (his father and grandfather were both admirals), he graduated 895th out of a class of 899. He was such a Mavericky pilot that if today's Naval standards were applied then, he would have been grounded for his stupid antics.

Obama was raised by a single mom, worked his ass off to get scholarships to very good schools and did a great job there, too.

Which one sounds like a better leader who can relate to the "common man"? The guy who has seven houses and thirteen cars? Or the guy who shares one hybrid vehicle with his wife? The guy who is willing to raise his own taxes or the guy who is going to give himself (and his ultra-rich wife's family) a tax break? Trickle-down economics didn't work the first time, either.

I wonder why CEOs would be for McCain and the working stiffs for Obama.

If the CEOs fear an Obama presidency, then I believe that is all the reason anyone who works for a living needs to vote for him. It is time that the nation is run by, of and for the people, as our constitution says. Enough corporate fascism! Obama 2008!

And THIS is exactly why I, and I would guess about 70% of the population will vote for Obama. I'm going for whoever scares the hell out of corporate America - and they know exactly why that is. Party's over boys. Snuff out those cigars and call your tax attorneys - it's time for change, and this time your billions spent on lobbyists won't change a thing. Maybe you could get some land in Crawford and start a nice little compound down there.

I am a CEO of a small company, a Democrat and with Obama 100%. In case these CEOs of bigger companies haven't noticed we ARE bankrupt. I am fighting now to save jobs and the company. This pattern of anything goes and no responsibility has to stop!!!!

Seventy percent of CEOs fear Obama??

That settles it -- I'm definitely voting for him then. It's about time these filthy greedy bastards were brought down a peg.

The CEOs are for McCain and the rapists are for Palin.
Thank God that the majority of everybody is for Obama!

What about the fact that Obama is getting about 3x the wall street money than McCain is? This is bull. Also, they each have a Bryzezinski on their staffs, and practically the same foreign policies, so what does it matter who is elected? America loses either way.

This survey should be spread far and wide. It is a sure fire way to get people to vote for Obama! The citizenry not only don't care what the piggish CEO's think, they hate them for their greed and for ruining our country. They're damn lucky they aren't getting lynched!

vote all incubates out even at the stae levels. as far as mccrash and obama..same suit, different colored ties. vote 3rd or 4th party, hit them all where it hurts, send a message, business will not be conducted as usual.
and don't tel me that any of them are any different.

history says...

"I believe that if the people of this nation fully understood what Congress has done to them over the last 49 years, they would move on Washington; they would not wait for an election... It adds up to a preconceived plan to destroy the economic and social independence of the United States!"

OK.....CEO's .....Say it with me, " President Obama....President Obama....President Obama"....Now.... don't you all feel better?

Thought so!

McCain has been in Washington for, what, 23 or more? So now he's for change? I'll admit, of he bunch of Repugs that were running he was probably the best. But he's really changed during this election. Getting really low down. What happened? Did Karl Rove drug him or something? And why aren't he or Palin saying anything to tone down the violent and racist comments increasing at their rallies? That alone makes them unfit for office.

As for these CEOs, all they care about is money. They know that Obama will tax them and McCain will give them all a big break. It's no wonder they are speaking up. They don't care one iota that another rightwing administration would be bad for everyone else.

These CEOs are rich and pathetic at the same time. Utterly blind to the disaster this country has become because of their damned greed and lies and their filthy influence over government.

Who the hell cares what they think, they represent such a small piece of the much bigger American Pie, it's called redisbursement of income. You guys make more money in a single year than most people born into middle and lower class make into their whole lives, you can spare some change.
