George McGovern on Bush, Cheney: Throw the bums out

Ratfarked 1972 Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern has written a damning op-ed in the Washington Post on why he believes President Bush and Vice President Cheney should get the boot.

"I have belatedly and painfully concluded that the only honorable course for me is to urge the impeachment of the president and the vice president," McGovern writes. "From the beginning, the Bush-Cheney team's assumption of power was the product of questionable elections that probably should have been officially challenged -- perhaps even by a congressional investigation."

Substantiating his assertion that Bush and Cheney are impeachable, McGovern says they are "clearly guilty" of numerous offenses. "They have repeatedly violated the Constitution. They have transgressed national and international law. They have lied to the American people time after time. Their conduct and their barbaric policies have reduced our beloved country to a historic low in the eyes of people around the world.

"These," argues McGovern, "are truly 'high crimes and misdemeanors.'"

The retired senator joins a growing list of prominent names calling for the impeachment of Bush and/or Cheney, including Gore Vidal, Bill Maher, Sean Penn, Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, and Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL).

This administration owns all the avenues available to the People; from the courts to the media.

American people are too afraid or too lazy to STAND UP!

There is a competitiveness and ambitiousness within the Truth movement as well as in the anti-war movement. There is no unified message or effort because of this.

Years from now, when the US is no longer a member of the United Nations Security Counsel, and if Bush and Cheney live long enough, I predict we will see them before the security counsel. They will be tried and convicted of war crimes.

Comments like- " the American people are too lazy or too scared to stand up...."- really get me crazy. HOW to stand up? HOW to be heard? Most protests are not covered, if a person even passively protests i.e. wears a T-SHIRT, they can be arrested and, under this administration, declared a terrorist.
Exactly how does a person revolt anymore. I don't know if there's ever been a central location- either physical or a toll free # or some thing along those lines that could keep a finger on the pulse, but how else?
I've signed every impeachment petition there is, I've written to the Speaker, I've written to my state rep. There are no rallies to attend, there are no MSM events that give voice to the majority of us that are demanding impeachment, there is NO VOICE! So WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
